Jack Williams is a native of Cullman County who attended schools
in Cullman, Etowah and Walker counties. He is a graduate of
Southeastern Bible College.
Williams was appointed Jefferson County Tax Collector in March of
1995, and was elected to a full term in 1996.
Prior to becoming Tax Collector, Williams served as Executive
Director of the Alabama House of Republican Caucus. He has also
managed or served as a consultant for Republican candidates in
numerous state and local races. He is also the former
Operations Director for the Southern Republican Exchange, a
political think-tank that provided policy ideas to Republicans
elected at the state and local level.
Currently, Williams is the Vice President for the National Conference
of Republican County Officials. He also serves as the 2nd Vice President for
the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers.
Locally he serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater
Birmingham Habitat for Humanity and is Co-Chair for the Jefferson
County Department of Human Resources Quality Assurance Committee.
Williams is also a member of The Birmingham Tip-Off Club and the
Monday Morning Quarterback Club.
Williams is married to a Birmingham native, the former Glenda
Cantrell. Dr. Glenda Williams is an Assistant Professor at the
University of Alabama, teaching in the College of Communication and
Information Science. The Williams' have 2 sons, Regan and Jordan.
They are members of Fullness Christian Fellowship.
